TEHRAN -– Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has called on Egypt to join the pro-Palestinian camp and use the remaining time to break off its “overt and covert relations” with the Tel Aviv regime.

Now that even some non-Muslim states have broken off relations with the Zionist regime “we expect the Egyptian officials” to do so, he explained.
Egypt is the only country which borders the Gaza Strip.
“We expect the government of Egypt to react to the Zionist regime’s crimes against the Gaza Strip since Egypt is the only possible land route for Gazans to breathe,” Mottaki told the Mehr News Agency.
Mottaki stated that the “tragic events” in Gaza have added to the responsibility of Arab and Muslim states “especially the countries located near the Gaza Strip”.
Israel controls air, sea, and land routes to the Gaza Strip. The densely populated enclave has come under relentless attack from air, land, and sea. The assault on Gaza has so far led to death of at least 1,188 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and many more injured.
At this “historic situation” Egypt is expected to fulfill its duty of opening border with the besieged territory and show some consideration for Hamas and the Gaza people, the top Iranian diplomat remarked
